When you wear Timbr, you're planting a seed.
We believe that education in the arts is the key to unlocking dreams. We believe this so much, that we use a portion of all proceeds towards empowering youth with the arts, helping them share the timbre of their voice, so together, we can become a tree of dreams and change our world.

A combination of two words, pronounced with a more French-influenced second syllable, \TAM-bruh\

Timbre: In music, timbre refers to the quality or character of a sound. It is what distinguishes one musical sound from another, even when they have the same pitch and loudness. Timbre is often described in terms of color, texture, or tone quality.

Timber: Timber has a dual meaning. The more commonly known meaning refers to wood that is prepared for use in building and carpentry. The second, more informal meaning refers to personal qualities or character.

How it Started

My name is Duane Forrest, a singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada, with Jamaican heritage. My good friend Craig White helped me design my logo for my music—a guitar that transforms into a bonsai tree with roots emerging from underneath.

I consistently sold out of my t-shirts every time I printed them.

I even had a collaboration with Roots Canada, and we jointly released a run of my shirts from their flagship store, which sold out in just two weeks. Over time, I received continuous advice to turn my merchandise into a brand, and after a while, I finally did it.

The symbol of the tree is immensely significant to me, woven into all of my artistic work. I hope you will wear Timbr proudly, knowing that we aim to provide rustic, earthy, and wooden tones for you to rock. At the same time, your support helps invest in the future dreams of young artists around the world.

Our Aspiration

At Timbr, we envision a world where every individual, regardless of background, has the opportunity to cultivate dreams through the transformative power of the arts. We strive to make garments that lead to a global community where creativity flourishes, education empowers, and the collective impact of individuals leads to positive change.

Our Purpose

At Timbr, our mission is twofold. First, we are dedicated to providing accessible arts education to underprivileged youth in Canada and Central America through partnerships with organizations like Genesis Community of the Arts. Through these programs, we aim to unlock the potential of young minds, fostering creativity and empowering them to become agents of change. Second, we are committed to sustainable and environmentally conscious practices in the fashion industry. From earthy tones to environmentally friendly materials, we aim to infuse our garments with a connection to nature and contribute to initiatives that protect our planet.

How it Works

Supporting the Young Artists Residency (YAR):

At Timbr, a portion of every purchase goes towards supporting programs like the Young Artists Residency (YAR). This innovative initiative is crafted to nurture emerging artistic talents. Whether situated in the vibrant heart of Toronto or on the enchanting shores of Little Corn Island in Nicaragua, YAR promises a transformative experience.

Guided by professional artist mentors, participants in YAR engage in workshops, one-on-one sessions, and collaborative projects. This residency not only fosters creativity but also empowers young artists, providing a valuable platform to showcase their work. When you choose Timbr, you become a part of a community where artistic dreams flourish, and vibrant stories unfold.
